Sam and I spent Saturday at home doing Midsummer things together. I made a new wreath for the front door – hopefully using things that will look better as they dry out this time. Grass seed heads and flowers, spanish and english lavender, feverfew, and lemon balm. Except I’m not sure how the lemon balm will hold up.
Sam made a solstice wheel. He wove a branch into a circle, wrapped it with twisted newspaper, and decorated it with wax and feverfew. Later we walked down to the beach and he lit it on fire before rolling it in to the water. It wasn’t as impressive as I think he was envisioning, and he got sunk pretty deep in the mud walking along the beach, but I thought it was pretty cool.
We were also babysitting some ducklings over the weekend for some friends who went out of town. Their names are Cutie-Pie and Eclipse, and they were incredibly adorable.
I also finally hung up my branch weaving. I started working on it last summer.. or maybe it was two summers ago? I’m not sure. Anyways, I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
